How to Use the Ladder Game

Enter Participants

Enter participant names. Minimum 2, maximum 10 participants. 4 participants are set by default.

Enter Results

Enter desired results like 'Winner', 'Loser', 'Buy drinks', etc. The number of results must match the number of participants.

Generate Ladder

Press 'Generate Ladder' to create a random ladder. Click a participant's name to see their path animated.

Check Results

Click each participant's name to reveal individual results, or press 'Reveal All' to see all results at once.

Is the ladder game really fair?

Yes! The ladder is generated using a completely random algorithm. Each participant has an equal probability of reaching any result. Horizontal rungs only connect adjacent vertical lines and never overlap, ensuring each person reaches exactly one unique result.

How many participants can join?

Minimum 2, maximum 10 participants. For team dinners and gatherings, 5-8 participants tends to work best.

How do I set up the results?

Type any text you like in the result fields: 'Winner', 'Loser', 'Buy coffee', 'Give a speech', etc. The number of results must equal the number of participants.

The path animation isn't working

Click a participant name button after generating the ladder. Only available after the ladder is created. Already-revealed paths won't re-animate.

Complete Guide to the Ladder Game

The ladder game is a traditional method used to fairly determine order or outcomes among multiple people. It's great for deciding who pays at dinner, assigning chores, drawing prizes, and more.

How the Ladder Game Works

The ladder game consists of vertical and horizontal lines forming a ladder shape. Each participant starts at the top of a vertical line and moves down, shifting left or right whenever they encounter a horizontal rung. This creates a mathematically perfect one-to-one mapping, guaranteeing every participant reaches a unique result.

Example Uses

Deciding who pays at team dinners, assigning duty rosters, selecting raffle winners, distributing cleaning zones, choosing presentation order, dividing game teams — any situation where fairness matters.
