Measure your typing speed (WPM) and accuracy
Type the text below
The average typing speed for general users is about 40–50 WPM in English. Professional typists record 80–100 WPM, and stenographers record 150 WPM or more.
WPM stands for Words Per Minute, the number of words typed per minute. For English, 5 characters count as 1 word, while for Korean, the number of characters is used as the measurement basis.
Learning touch typing (typing without looking at the keyboard) is the most important step. Start by focusing on accuracy, then gradually increase your speed as you get comfortable. Practicing consistently for 10–15 minutes daily is most effective.
Home position (F and J keys) is the foundation of touch typing. Keeping the left pinky on A, S, D, F and the right hand on J, K, L, ; as the base allows efficient access to all keys.
A typing speed test measures your WPM (words per minute) and accuracy, helping you objectively assess your typing skills. Supports both Korean and English.
Fast typing significantly boosts work efficiency. Whether writing documents, coding, or composing emails, typing speed is directly tied to productivity in computer-based work. Set a target speed and practice consistently.
Learning touch typing — typing without looking at the keyboard — is the most effective long-term approach. Practice while maintaining accuracy even if it feels slow at first. Using online typing tools and training daily for 10–15 minutes will rapidly improve your skills.
General office workers: 40+ WPM, data entry workers: 60+ WPM, stenographers: 100+ WPM. For programmers, code readability and accuracy matter more, but 70+ WPM is generally sufficient.
