Document scanning is the process of converting paper documents into digital images. This online document scanner allows you to digitize documents using a smartphone or webcam without dedicated scanner equipment. You can quickly digitize contracts, receipts, business cards, notes, and more for storage, sharing, and editing. It saves physical space and makes document search and management easier. Additionally, image correction features allow you to obtain clean scan results even when lighting is poor or paper is crumpled.
Camera permission is requested by the browser. When you click the 'Start Camera' button, a permission request popup appears at the top of the browser. Select 'Allow' to grant access. If you denied permission, you must manually allow camera permission for this site in browser settings. In Chrome, click the lock icon to the left of the address bar to manage camera permissions. All camera data is processed only within the browser and is not transmitted to any server.
The appropriate filter depends on the document type. For general text documents, increasing contrast by 30-50 and applying the Black & White filter makes text sharper. For documents with photos, adjust only brightness and contrast and avoid binarization. For old or discolored documents, apply grayscale filter first then increase contrast for best results. The threshold slider controls the boundary between black and white during binarization, so if there is background noise, increase the threshold to remove it. Experiment with various combinations to select the most readable result.
Yes, you can. After capturing the first page, press the capture button again to add a new page. Captured pages are displayed as thumbnails at the bottom of the screen, and each page can be adjusted and managed individually. If you capture a page incorrectly, you can remove it by clicking the delete button on the thumbnail. Once all page editing is complete, you can download each page individually or download as PDF to manage multiple pages as a single document. This is efficient for digitizing multi-page documents like contracts, reports, and lecture notes.
Each format has pros and cons depending on usage. PNG uses lossless compression with the highest image quality but larger file size. It is suitable for contracts and important documents with lots of text requiring high quality. JPEG uses lossy compression with smaller file size but slightly reduced quality. The quality slider allows you to balance size and quality, and it is suitable for general documents or documents with photos. PDF can combine multiple pages into one file and has high compatibility, making it most suitable for document sharing. PDF is recommended for email attachments or official submissions, while PNG is recommended for high-quality archiving.
This document scanner operates completely client-side, so all image processing occurs only within your browser. Captured images or uploaded files are not transmitted to servers and are not stored externally. When you click the download button, the file is saved to your browser's default download folder. You can safely scan documents with important privacy and security concerns, and it works even when internet connection is lost. However, captured images disappear when you refresh or close the page, so you must download them after completing your work.
